Narrative
Tusk or Tooth shell (Class Scaphopoda) are small shells shaped like the tusks of a wild boar and are open at both ends. The bottom end permits the animal to anchor its foot and send out feeding filaments; the small top end permits breathing. These deep water animals bury themselves in the sand with only the top hole above the sand and are rarely noticed. However, some shallow water species can be discovered at a low tide.
